Trina finally received the flowers she deserves during an unforgettable tribute to the rapper's legacy.

On Tuesday, October 4, the Miami legend accepted the 'I Am Hip Hop' Award towards the end of the BET Hip Hop Awards 2022. Fellow Dade County icons Trick Daddy, Slip-N-Slide Records founder Ted Lucas, Remy Ma and others were at the podium to present the Diamond Princess with the prestigious honor. During her acceptance speech, the seasoned rapper thanked her late mother Vernessa 'Nessa' Taylor and dedicated her award to her late niece Suga, who was shot and killed earlier this year.

"First and foremost, God made this possible," Trina said as she accepted the honor. "I just want to thank my beautiful mom because without her Trina would not exist. I just wanna thank BET for continuing to be a platform that heightens our culture and for giving me my flowers while I am still here to smell them... I am still and will always be the original baddest chick from the 305. I just want to say thank you guys and this award is dedicated to my beautiful niece Suga. I love you and I carry you right here on this stage with me tonight.

Before her acceptance speech, a plethora of artists gave Trina her flowers like Remy Ma, Killer Mike, Missy Elliott, Latto and City Girls. Trina was announced as this year's recipient of the 'I Am Hip Hop Award' just a couple weeks ago. In previous years, the 'I Am Hip Hop' Award was presented to other groundbreaking rappers like KRS-One, Ice Cube, Salt-N-Pepa, Scarface, Lil Wayne and others.

On the music front, Trina previously dropped her latest single "Clap" featuring Latto. She also released a compilation album featuring her Rockstar Music Group artists and her Blue Magic EP, which features Boosie Badazz, Kash Doll, Chief Pound, Ball Greezy, Nia Amber and Da Brat. Her last solo studio album The One dropped in 2017. She's also currently starring in season five of VH1's Love & Hip-Hop: Miami.
