Although Diddy’s 50th birthday was on November 4th, the business mogul decided to push back his major star-studded celebration to honor his late ex, Kim Porter. Kim passed in 2018 at her Toluca Lake home due to lung complications stemming from lobar pneumonia.
In a touching video posted to his Instagram account, Diddy uploaded a compilation of sweet moments throughout Kim’s life. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY @ladykp,” Diddy captioned on Sunday, Dec. 15. “Words can’t explain how much we miss you but today is your birthday. We’re celebrating you today! We love and we miss you!!!!!”
The video begins with black and white footage of Kim in a studio covering India.Arie’s 2001 track, “Ready For Love”.
Kim can be heard singing, “For a man who loves music, a man who loves art, respects the spirit world, and thinks with his heart.”
For the first 20 seconds we watch old intimate moments between Diddy and Kim holding and dancing with one another. The video then shows the model spending time with her family, dancing, hugging, smiling.
Kim and Diddy were together for over 10 years, birthing three children, Christian, 21, and 12-year-old twin daughters, D'Lila Star and Jessie James. Diddy also adopted Porter's son Quincy Brown, 28.
The couple shared an on again off again relationship beginning in the 90’s. Although the two separated, they continued to co-parent and share love for one another. On the one year anniversary of her passing, Diddy shared a heartfelt video of Porter playing the piano.
“I MISS YOU SOOOOOO MUCH. So much. Every time I get sad I look at this video and it brings a smile to my face,” Diddy expresses on Instagram in the clip’s caption.
He continued: “I THANK GOD FOR THE PRECIOUS TIME HE ALLOWED US TO HAVE WITH YOU. I WISH YOU WERE HERE WITH US RIGHT NOW AND THIS WAS ALL A DREAM. I WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON THAT WISH. NEVER!!! Love you forever Kimberly Antwinette Goodwin Porter.”
