Brett Eldredge Debuts New Single, 'Gabrielle' Live On 'Stephen Colbert'

Brett Eldredge gave a live debut of his new single, "Gabrielle" on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night (April 21). From the comfort of his backyard in Nashville, Eldredge strums his acoustic guitar as he sings the heartfelt lyrics of the song.

"Was it your heart or mine? / Was it just the wrong time, Gabrielle? / We never got very far / But girl, wherever you are / I wish you well / Gabrielle," Eldredge sings in the chorus of the song.

"Gabrielle," co-written by Eldredge alongside award-winning producers, Daniel Rashian and Ian Fitchuk, was released on April 17 as the lead single from his forthcoming fifth studio album, Sunday Drive. It's his first single since "Love Someone," released in June 2018. The piano-driven track finds Eldredge singing about a lover from the past.

In a statement, Eldredge explained of the inspiration behind his new song, "'Gabrielle' is all about looking back on a relationship that didn't necessarily go wrong, it just never quite made it there. You always wonder where that person is, what it could've been, what your life could have been with them and I think we've all been there and I think just hearing Gabrielle, there's a lot of Gabrielles out there, whatever your name is, you're Gabrielle."

In addition to "Gabrielle," Eldredge also surprised fans with two more songs including "Where The Heart Is" and "Crowd My Mind." Sunday Drive, which follows Eldredge's 2017 self-titled album, will include a total of 12 new songs and is set for release on July 10.
