Kane Brown took the stage at an empty Nashville's Ryman Auditorium for a virtual BET Awards performance. He was joined by Jonathan McReynolds, as well, who performed on a separate stage at the Ryman Auditorium in order to practice safe social distancing.
McReynolds kicked off their set with an acoustic performance of 'Beautiful,' while Kane later took over with his song 'Worldwide Beautiful.' Kane released the powerful track earlier this month, however, he told fans he'd been holding on to the new single for a year now. Not only did he decide to release the single early, he also announced that all the proceeds would go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America in the wake of the nationwide movement against racism and police brutality.
Kane's 'Worldwide Beautiful' lyrics address racism and bigotry. "White churches, black churches/Different people, same hearses/âšIt's kinda hard to fight with each other/âšLaying down in the ground, six underâš/At every show I see my peopleâš/They ain't the same but they're all equalâš/One love, one God, one familyâš," Kane begins the song. "You're missing every color/âšIf you're only seeing black and white/âšTell me how you're gonna change your mind/âšIf your heart's unmovableâš/We ain't that different from each otherâš/From one to another, I look aroundâš/And see worldwide beautifulâš."
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter is the first Black male solo country artist to perform on the BET Awards, as well, making his performance even more meaningful.
