Sean "Diddy" Combs has expanded his legal team in preparation for a new bid for bail and potential charges that may come down from a grand jury.
According to a report TMZ published on Monday, September 30, the incarcerated artist's lawyer has filed to appeal the second ruling on his bond. This would be Combs' third attempt for pre-trial release after two judges denied his bail in the weeks after his arrest. The Bad Boy founder also hired two new attorneys, Anthony Ricco and Alexandra Shapiro, to assist with his case. Ricco is known as a top-tier trial attorney and Shapiro is revered as a prime appellate lawyer.
Combs' legal team is growing as a grand jury continues to hear from more witnesses. The grand jury has been active since the top of the summer and has allegedly heard from the mogul's past accusers. They recently heard from a new male escort who testified about his participation in one of Diddy's "freak-offs." The latest witness was asked how he got into contact with Combs and whether or not the escort was transported across state lines or taken abroad. The grand jury also inquired about how Combs compensated the sex worker.
Prosecutors have reportedly considered bringing more charges against Combs based on new testimony from witnesses that have recently come forward. Remember, federal prosecutors have already heard from several other witnesses including a separate male escort who reportedly handed over a videotape of himself in a threesome with Combs and a woman. There are also more alleged victims to consider including two recent complaints from two women who claimed Combs raped them, and at least 100 civil lawsuits that could be filed soon.
